César is a Senior FWO Postdoctoral Researcher at the Laboratory for Chemical Technology of Ghent University and CAS Future Leader class of 2018. His work focuses on sustainable chemistry and CO2 utilization towards the development of renewable starting materials for the chemical industry. He studied Chemistry at Universidad Simón Bolívar, Venezuela and did his final year project in The Institute of Chemistry of Organometallic Compounds in Florence, Italy. He completed his PhD in Organometallic Chemistry and Catalysis in the University of St Andrews, Scotland where he worked on the development of olefin metathesis catalysts under supervision of Prof. Steven P. Nolan. He worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at RWTH Aachen University (Germany) before joining the group of Prof. Mark Saeys at Ghent University in 2016. César is also the President Ghent University PostDoc Community and a member of AVOQUIM, the Venezuelan Association of Chemistry Olympiads.
